Sunderland Male Voice Choir is creating a series of new songs about the heritage and people of Hendon under 'The Hendon Project'.
One of these themes is 'The Sunderland Barracks'. The fortifications of Sunderland were originally located on the site of the existing Barrack Street near the Port of Sunderland at the mouth of the River Wear in Hendon.
