The Hetton Colliery 200 Concert

Hetton Colliery Railway 200

Sunderland Male Voice Choir took part in the 'Hetton Colliery Railway 200 Banquet' at Hall Garth Manor Hotel in County Durham on Saturday, 19th November 2022.

This was to be the third concert that the Choir would perform their new song, 'We're Going on A Randy'. The song had been written by Sam Jordan, tenor and deputy musical director, about local legend, George Stephenson, and the workmen ('navvies') who helped to build the famous Hetton Colliery Railway, which opened in November 2022.

The Choir had also supported local singer and songwriter, Marty Longstaff, with chorus harmonies for the recording of his new song, 'Stephenson's Engine'.

Sunderland Male Voice Choir and members of the Houghton Brass Band supported Marty Longstaff at the Banquet when he performed 'Stephenson's Engine'.
