The Festive Celebration for North East Legend Concert
Sunderland Male Voice Choir will hold their fourth key concert when they will showcase a new heritage folk song!
The Choir will perform ‘We’re Going on A Randy’ this Saturday afternoon at South Hylton Independent Methodist Church in Sunderland.
The song was written by tenor and deputy musical director, Sam Jordan, about local legend, George Stephenson and the workmen (‘navvies’) who helped to build the famous Hetton Colliery Railway, which opened in November 1822.
The project was commissioned by The Cultural Spring and Sunderland City Council.
Sunderland Male Voice Choir is already working on other new songs about the local heritage and people, which should be promoted later this year.
