Marty Longstaff is a singer/songwriter from Sunderland and is the permanent member of 'The Lake Poets'.
The band has toured the UK and the USA and recorded some inspiring material. Their name has been taken from the famous literary poets.
Marty has been inspired in his song writing by the love and respect for his grandfather, who was a rivet catcher and then crane driver at the former Austin and Pickersgill Shipyard in Deptford, Sunderland. This inspired him to write his famous song 'Shipyards' for the theme track of Fulwell73's 'Sunderland Til I Die'.
He has also been commissioned by The Cultural Spring to produce a new piece of music to commemorate the Bicentenary of The Hetton Colliery Railway. Sunderland Male Voice Choir is supporting him with this powerful ballad and Houghton Area Brass Band.
