Shiney Row Male Voice Choir presented at the local
Methodist Church.
This was an appropriate mixture of festive music.
Saturday, 25th April 2015 – 56th
Annual Concert
Shiney Row Male Voice Choir held their Annual Concert at
Ewesley Methodist Church in Sunderland. Stephen Wroe was musical director and
Bob Chicken, accompanist.
The guest soloists for the evening were Lisa Swayne,
soprano and Austin Gunn, tenor.
The choir opened the concert with ‘Let There Be Light’, and
‘Let All Men Sing’, followed by ‘You Raise Me Up’ and ‘Let the Trumpet Sound’,
and closed the first half with ‘Three Times A Lady’ and ‘African Prayer’.
They then opened the second half with ‘Softly As I Leave
You’ and ‘Portrait of My Love’, followed by ‘Blue Skies’ and ‘They call the
wind Maria’, and closed the second half with ‘Bobby Shafto’, ‘Anthem’ and ‘I’ll
Walk with God’.

Spectacular of Massed Voices
Shiney Row Male Voice Choir took part in the National
Association of Choir’s Concert at The Sage Gateshead.
The event was organised by the North East Group and the
presenter was Dr. Alwyn Humphreys MBE.
The choir participated in the ‘Massed Male Voices’ section.
The first session included ‘Let All Men Sing’, ‘March of the Peers’, ‘Bobby
Shafto’ and ‘Love, Could I Only Tell Thee’. The second session included ‘African
Prayer’, ‘Softly As I Leave You’, ‘You Raise Me Up’ and ‘Gwahoddiad’.
All choirs presented ‘Blaenwern’, followed by ‘Jerusalem’.
