Christmas Tree Concert at Ewesley Methodist
Church, Sunderland
Shiney Row Male Voice Choir presented an afternoon concert
at the church, which normally hosted their Annual Concert.
The guest artists at the event were sopranos, Niamh Carr
and Rosie Katt, and The Northern Youth Choir with musical director, Sam Jordan.
Shiney Row performed ‘Let There Be Light’, ‘You Raise Me
Up’ and ‘African Prayer’ to open the concert. They followed this set with more
festive numbers including ‘Star Carol’, ‘Saviour’s Day’, ‘Silent Night’,
Lullaby at Christmas’, ‘When a Child is Born’, ‘Mary’s Boy Child’ and ‘Ring All
the Bells’.
The finale by the choir and guests was ‘O Holy Night’.

Annual Concert
Shiney Row Male Voice Choir held their Annual Concert at
Ewesley Methodist Church in Sunderland. Carl Heron was musical director and Bob
Chicken, accompanist.
The guest soloist for the evening was mezzo-soprano, Kath
Ireland.
The choir opened the concert with ‘Alexander’s Ragtime
Band’, ‘Sailing’ and ‘Bridge over Troubled Water’, followed by ‘God’s Choir’,
‘Every Time I Feel the Spirit’ and closed the first half with the ‘Sinatra
Medley’.
They then opened the second half with ‘Battle Hymn of the
Republic’ and ‘If I Ruled the World’, followed by ‘Unchained Melody’, ‘Bobby
Shafto’ and ‘Morte Christe’.
The evening closed with ‘Dambusters’.

Spectacular of Massed Voices
Shiney Row Male Voice Choir took part in the National
Association of Choir’s Concert at The Sage Gateshead.
The event was organised by the North East Group and the
presenter was Dr. Alwyn Humphreys MBE.
The choir participated in the ‘Massed Male Voices’ section.
The first session included ‘Let the Earth Resound’, ‘She Was Beautiful’, ‘My
Lord What a Mornin’ and ‘Gwahoddiad’. The second session included ‘The
Fishermen of England’, ‘Bobby Shafto’, ‘If I Ruled the World’ and ‘An American
Trilogy’.
All choirs presented
‘Blaenwern’, followed by ‘Jerusalem’.
