Beamish Pit Village Chapel

COAL MINING IS PART OF SUNDERLAND'S HERITAGE!

Coal Mining was certainly a key part of the heritage of Sunderland and County Durham!

It was fitting that when Shiney Row Male Voice Choir recently visited Beamish Museum to perform in the Pit Village Chapel, some of the men took the opportunity to visit the Colliery Yard.

One of the most popular numbers in the Choir's repertoire is 'The Colliers' Requiem'. The Choir will be closing their performance at the City Hall on Wednesday, 27th July when they welcome new citizens to the City of Sunderland and try to commemorate our past heritage.

The Choir is producing a new song about George Stephenson and the Hetton Railway. It will be performed for the first time at Hetton Methodist Church on Friday, 4th November 2022.
