GETTING BACK TO THE BASICS!
Some of the Men of Shiney Row Male Voice Choir took the opportunity yesterday to visit the Pit Yard at Beamish Museum.
The choir was performing traditional hymns in the Pit Village Chapel.
Many #malevoice choirs originated during the Industrial Revolution. 'The Colliers' Requiem' is one of the most popular numbers in the choir's repertoire and they will singing it again shortly for new citizens in the new Sunderland City Hall on Wednesday, 27th July.
A visit to the Colliery was also appropriate for the Men of Shiney Row as they are currently producing a new piece of music about George Stephenson and the Hetton Railway. The new song will be performed for the first time at Hetton Methodist Church on Friday, 4th November.
The choir will be back at Beamish in the Welfare Hall on Sunday, 9th October.
