TWAS ON THE 9TH JUNE......1781!
Yes, it is an important day for the #northeast of England and Shiney Row Male Voice Choir!
It is on this day in 1781, the 'Father of Railways' was born in Wylam, Northumberland. An what an impact, he was to have on the region and the country. Some of his major achievements were 'The Safety Lamp', 'Locomotives' and 'Hetton Railway'. And the rest is history and a key part of the Industrial Revolution.
The Men of Shiney Row will be remembering this key figure and his influence on Wearside as they have been commissioned by 'The Cultural Spring' to write a new song about 'Stephenson and the Hetton Railway'.
Watch out for the first performance later in the year!
In the meantime, you can catch up with the choir at St. John's Methodist Church in Sunderland on Saturday, 11th June 2022 at 7.00pm in an 'Early Summer Concert and Memorial to Falklands Veterans'.
Good luck to everyone taking part in the Blaydon Race!
